Bata on Friday marked a significant milestone by celebrating 130 years of global success and 85 years of operations in Kenya with a special event held at Mathare North Primary School in Ruaraka Constituency.

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Bata distributed 1,538 pairs of school shoes and sanitary pads to students, reaffirming their commitment to uplifting underprivileged communities.

The event, graced by Bata Managing Director Benson Okumu, Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang, and Mathare North MCA Oscar Lore, aimed to support both boys and girls from marginalized backgrounds.

Through this initiative, Bata continues to demonstrate its dedication to fostering a brighter future for Kenyan students, ensuring they are well-equipped for school and encouraging their education.

Speaking at the event, Okumu highlighted the company's longstanding focus on helping marginalized communities. He also announced that Bata is set to introduce mentorship programs to create a conducive learning environment for students.

The initiative’s aim is to provide the tools and guidance necessary to help them succeed academically and in their individual pursuance.

In addition to the donation, Bata revealed its expansion plans, which include opening a new branch in Kapenguria, West Pokot County.

The expansion is part of Bata's broader efforts to promote regional equality by making its products and services more accessible to all Kenyans.

Bata’s commitment to community empowerment goes beyond just footwear. This year alone, the company has supported millions, including schools and homes, through various initiatives aimed at promoting community growth.

As the largest shoe manufacturer and retailer in Eastern and Central Africa, Bata’s iconic products like Toughees, Safari Boots, Bata Ngoma, and Pata Pata have become synonymous with Kenya’s footwear industry.
