Referees Cheruiyot, Yiembe appointed for CAF Champions League final duty

Top Kenyan referees Gilbert Cheruiyot and Stephen Yiembe have once again been selected for high-profile officiating roles this time in the CAF Champions League 2024/25 final.
The showdown will feature Egypt’s Pyramids FC
against South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
The CAF Champions League final is scheduled for
Sunday, June 1 at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, with kick-off set for 8:00 p.m.
(EAT).
Cheruiyot will serve as the First Assistant Referee,
while Yiembe has been appointed as the Second Assistant Referee for the
continental showdown.
The elite duo are no strangers to the international
stage, having officiated in major CAF and FIFA tournaments, including FIFA
World Cup qualifiers, the Olympics, AFCON and AFCON qualifiers, and previous
CAF Champions League fixtures.
In a further endorsement of his credentials, Stephen
Yiembe has also been selected to officiate at the FIFA Club World Cup, which
will be held in the United States from June 14 to July 13, 2025.
