Property of unknown value was Sunday night destroyed after a fierce fire gutted down stalls in Kibera’s Olympic area.
The fire, which is alleged to have been caused by an electrical fault in one of the stalls, was fueled by a gas cylinder that exploded minutes later.
Fire fighters managed to contain the fire but no casualties were reported.
Cases of fire breakouts in Kibra have been on the rise for the last three years with irregular electricity connections and kerosene stoves being blamed for the same.
In May 2013, an inferno at Laini Saba left seven members of a family dead and scores injured.
The fire left at least seventy two houses and property of unknown value reduced to ashes.
A few days later, another fire broke-out in Area 42 reducing to ashes four houses and destroying property valued at hundreds of thousands.
