Mwaura was awarded in recognition of his efforts in advancing social justice, inclusive communication and disability advocacy.
The award was presented during the CHIL International Awards event organised by Here for Perfection (H4P), a non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
Mwaura had attended the event as an international chief guest to support the cause, but was pleasantly surprised to be among those honoured.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mwaura said, “I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition. It reaffirms my commitment to advancing social justice and ensuring that persons with disabilities are fully included in all aspects of society.”
“This award is not just mine; it belongs to every individual and organisation working tirelessly to promote inclusion and equality,” he added.
Mwaura also expressed appreciation to the organisers, including H4P founder Charles Cofie Hackman and event coordinator Dolly Armah, for their dedication to the cause.
“I thank the organisers for this honour and for the impactful work they continue to do in advancing disability rights,” he said.
He dedicated the award to children in Kenya born with disabilities, noting, “I dedicate this award to children born with disabilities, whose resilience continues to inspire us to build a more inclusive and compassionate society.”
