The popular Nairobi-based retail shop has lately been trending for allegedly selling substandard phones and going silent on their customers once they start experiencing problems with the gadgets.
Hundreds of affected Kenyans took to the internet to share their unsavoury experiences with iPhone Street Kenya.
One of the victims was TikTok user Lordhezion who shared that the iPhone 13 he purchased from the store had rapid battery drain prompting him to dig deeper into the issue.
Upon investigation, he uncovered that his device was originally sold by Apple as a Product Red device but had been refurbished and presented to him in a new Starlight body.
After much flak online, the shop issued a statement admitting that they were yet to set up a dedicated customer service team, hence the failure to attend to their clients appropriately and on time.
In a rather surprising turn of events, fabulously wealthy singer and politician Jaguar has now come out and revealed himself as the director of the controversy-ridden shop.
Through a brief statement, Jaguar promised to turn around the business and redeem its name after the outlet's reputation suffered a serious dent over the last several days.
While addressing dissatisfied clients via Instagram, Jaguar said that he had taken 'full responsibility' for the debacle.
"It is quite unfortunate that some of our clients have experienced dissatisfaction. I have taken a personal initiative and take full responsibility for what happened," he said.
"I commit to put in place a new customer service team for clear product information and dispute resolution to mitigate any issues moving forward."
Despite the commitment to act better, unimpressed Kenyans on Instagram lambasted the singer, demanding answers on past errors.
One user asked, "Swali ni, will all the people who were sold refurbished phones disguised as new be compensated? With new phones that they paid for or refunded cash?!”
