The High Court has consolidated seven petitions challenging the removal of Chief Justice Martha Koome and other Supreme Court judges, issuing key directions to streamline the proceedings.

In a ruling issued on Friday, the bench granted Chief Justice Koome and the other Supreme Court judges additional time to amend their petitions.

“The orders have been pending for a long time… consolidating the cases into one main petition will save the court's time,” one of the lawyers in the case stated.

The court directed all parties involved in the petitions to submit hard copies of their pleadings by May 21, 2025, and to file their responses by May 28, 2025. Additionally, the bench ruled that all pending applications related to the case have been dispensed with.

The court has also extended the conservatory orders that prevent the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) from proceeding with the removal petitions against the judges until the matter is fully heard and determined.

The case is scheduled for mention on July 4, 2025, where the court will fix dates for the highlighting of submissions.
