Democracy for Citizen Party (DCP) leader and former Deputy
President Rigathi Gachagua has renewed his attacks on President William Ruto,
accusing him of ousting him from power based on what he terms as false
accusations, including the controversial purchase of a land parcel in Meru
County.
Speaking in Meru at the start of his three-day tour of the
region on Friday, Gachagua called on residents to boycott a luxury hotel he
claims is associated with President Ruto.
The DCP leader also criticized a section of Members of
Parliament, whom he accused of collaborating in his removal from office, a move
he claims has denied the region vital development opportunities.
"Mimi singekubali kuungana naye akiuwa watoto. Alitaka
kugawanya Mlima ndio atukalie vile Moi alitukalia kwa miaka 24. Alitaka kutumia
huyu soprano eti Wameru, Wakikuyu na Waembu wakao kando ndio
atutawale," he said.
"Nguvu yetu ni kukaa tukiwa pamoja. Sasa wewe Kasongo,
badala utujengee barabara ya kutupelekea mazao kwa factoria, wewe unajenga
barabara ya kuenda kwa hoteli yako, na unafikiria Wameru ni wajinga watakuja
kukunywa chai katika hoteli yako... Kasongo anyolewe, asinyolewe."
Former Agriculture CS and DCP’s National Organising Secretary
Mithika Linturi noted: "Ndio mnaona tumetoa kifua mbele na tumesema
tutaenda mbele na wengine watafuata. Na tuko hapa kuwaambia msishtuke, msinunue
uoga. Na hata kama hatuna wabunge, Meru has no shortage of leaders that are
patriotic, that can work day and night to liberate Meru."
"Vijana, you are our future, you are the future of this
country. Kasongo anawanyima maisha na anachukua madeni. Na yule mtoto mtazaa
atakuwa na madeni na hata shule watoto sahii hawaendi." Jayne Kihara,
Naivasha MP, stated.
Following his impeachment as the second-in-command, Gachagua
has been airing the government's 'dirty laundry' in public, accusing his former
boss President Ruto of sabotaging the country's economy.
