18-year-old arrested trying to exhume mother’s remains

Police in Kandara, Murang’a County have arrested an 18-year-old man after he allegedly attempted to exhume his mother’s remains.

According to the suspect, Elias Njoroge, he wanted to exhume his mother because he wanted to communicate with her.

Njoroge further added that he also felt lonely since his siblings were taken away to a children’s home.

Reports indicate that the suspect was just a few meters from reaching the remains when the police arrived.

After his arrest, the suspect is reported to have escaped through the roof but was re-arrested.

Neighbours allege that Njoroge could be abusing drugs and recommended that he be taken to a mental hospital.
