Former Nyatike MP Edick Omondi Anyanga grilled over shooting incident

Former Nyatike Member of Parliament (MP) Edick Omondi Anyanga has been disarmed after a shooting incident that left a resident with a gunshot injury in Lwanda, Nyatike Sub County.

Confirming the incident, Migori county police boss Mark Wanjala said the ex-legislator was on his way home when he was accosted by a  group of people.

Police said they will get to the bottom of the matter in order to pave way for legal action. "The former MP has recorded a statement with police. We confiscated his firearm as we probe the matter," Wanjala added.

On his part, the former lawmaker claimed that he shot in the air after fearing for his life. "My life was in danger and I had to protect myself by shooting in the air," Anyanga told Citizen Digital.

The victim is undergoing treatment at Sori-Lakeside Hospital.
