Construction of Naibor-Maralal road to end in February

This is according to Transport Principal Secretary Prof. Paul Maringa who said the road will be completed by February 20.

"We have allowed ourselves tolerance of five days, so we should have the road’s construction completed by 20th February this year and we expect the road to be complete with markings, signage," he said.

The PS was addressing journalists outside Samburu County Commissioner’s office in Maralal town where he did a road inspection.

He said the project will engage in corporate social responsibility activities upon its completion to benefit the community as per the request from local leaders.

"There was a request from the members of parliament, senator and the governor himself that the project should benefit the community directly through water for schools and water pans, we will meet here in February to ensure that those CSRs are initiated," Prof. Maringa said.

He said that the tarmac road will be extended by three kilometres to reach the hospital, Judiciary and government offices.

"We want to ensure that you don’t come on a very good tarmac road and end up in a dusty town," he added.

The PS was accompanied by the contractor and the county’s development implementation committee.
