The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a construction progress for motorists along the Nairobi Expressway.

KeNHA on Friday revealed that the current progress is only 18 per cent away from completion and will be opened to the public in less than two months’ time.

“The project continues to make good progress with a completion status standing at 82 %. It is on schedule for opening to the public by March 2022,” the authority said in a statement.

Even as the authority remains committed to managing traffic flow in and out of the Central Business District(CBD), motorists are cautioned that some sections will still experience traffic congestions as the areas are currently under intervention

These sections include Mlolongo area where a new pedestrian footbridge is being constructed; GM area where there is a temporary diversion; and Bunyala round about where construction is still ongoing.

Other sections according to the authority are; the U -turn from All pack service road where access from the service lane to Mombasa Road has been blocked, hence motorists on the service road who wish to make a U-turn are advised to do so at Mlolongo.

Gateway mall where excavation and protection of an oil pipeline that crosses under the expressway and AB is ongoing is another area where traffic snarl-ups may be experienced.

In regard to the status of the project, KeNHA explained that construction of the operation and monitoring center stands at 99.5% completion while that of the elevated section stands at 98.5%.

Motorists are implored to continue exercising caution and road courtesy as that will help manage traffic better.
