Police In Naivasha Probing Death Of Veteran Kenyan Journalist Gatonye Gathura

Police in Naivasha are investigating the death of Standard Group Health Journalist John Gatonye Gathura whose body was found dumped at Kihoto area a month ago.

Naivasha DCIO Adan Hassa said a passer-by reported a body was that was lying at KWS bush in Kihoto area on October 26. 

Police officers deployed to the scene found a body that was smartly dressed and tied at the neck. There was no form of identification. 

The body was moved to the Naivasha hospital mortuary and booked as that of an unknown person.

He stated his fingerprints were taken to the national registration bureau the next day for identification, and the process of identifying the family began as soon as the results were released. 

His family was later traced in Ndeiya location,  Limuru sub-county in Kiambu county through local administration. 

His family is said to have identified the body on Wednesday and are awaiting a postmortem due on Friday to establish the cause of his death.

The DCIO however confirmed that from the preliminary investigations, the scene where his body was found indicated to be a secondary scene, indicating that he could have been killed elsewhere, and his body dumped in the bush.
