Man arrested for vandalizing Safaricom telecommunication equipment worth Ksh.2M

Police officers in Murang’a are holding a man who vandalized Safaricom telecommunication equipment worth over Ksh.2 million.

The suspect - Lenny Ng’ang’a - reportedly gained access to a transmitter station after masquerading as a Safaricom engineer.

The station's guard however became suspicious of his activities and alerted police officers, but the suspect escaped into his vehicle and sped off.

He drove towards Saba Saba, with the police vehicle hot on the chase behind him.

The land cruiser caught up with the suspect’s vehicle a few kilometres past Saba Saba and pulled him over.

Telecommunication equipment were discovered in the suspect’s vehicle upon search by the officers.

The vehicle was impounded and the suspect will be arraigned in court to answer to charges.
