Robbers arrested while drunk after breaking into a Kakamega bar

Three robbers were on Monday morning arrested after a failed robbery attempt in a bar at Khayega area in Kakamega County. According to witnesses, the robbers broke into the bar the previous night where they binge drank, and on their second return to the joint in the wee hours of the morning to steal money, they were caught. Irate Khayega villagers lynched the burglars before police came to their rescue. Reports claim that the robbers had one too many yet again, consequently rendering them immobile. It is in their tipsy state when furious villagers caught up with them. The furious crowd asked police officers who had arrived at the scene to let them teach the robbers a lesson through mob justice; their pleas however were not granted. At one point, Police were forced to shoot in the air to disperse the gathering which was baying for the robbers’ blood. According to the bar owner, the robbers tied up the guard and locked him in the toilet. He claims money and goods of unknown value were lost. The burglars were taken to Kakamega Police Station.
