85 and counting: DP Ruto’s political rallies in October
Deputy President William Ruto has made over 85 stops in his campaign rallies in the month of October so far.
This is exclusive of Mashujaa Day, the only state function in October.
Ruto, who has been on an intensive campaign run lately to support his 2022 presidential bid, has also hosted five more events in his Karen residence during this period.
A close look at DP Ruto’s social media activity, where he documents photos and location labels of the places he visits, reveals that has traversed over fifteen counties in October.
These include Murang’a, Nakuru, Kisii, Narok, Kajiado, Laikipia, Isiolo, Taveta, Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kakamega, Busia, Kiambu and his most recent, Makueni.
A closer look further shows that on Sunday, 3 October, he interestingly attended two church services in Kisii County – Deliverance Church International Kisii and St. Denis Kenyenya Catholic Church, Bomachoge Borabu – and further addressed crowds in 8 towns.
On that Sunday and the following day, Monday 4th, he held 17 rallies.
Kisii County is the area he has documented the highest number of stops this month (all 17 from the two days), followed by Mombasa (12) and Kakamega (9).
He has only documented one stop in Murang’a County, on October 2.
On the flip side, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, his main contender for the top seat, has documented 19 stops in his campaign so far, although it is highly likely that a lot of his rallies are not captured on social media.
