Goons ambush security guards, destroy property and cars in Kayole

  • The victims said the assailants were brandishing pangas.

At least nine security guards stationed at a car wash in Sosion Estate, Kayole, are nursing serious injuries after they were ambushed by a gang of goons on Friday.

The victims said the assailants, who brandished pangas, attacked them before proceeding to vandalise the property and cars booked for servicing on the premises.

The guards added that this is not the first time such an incident is happening at the car wash.

“It is not the first time that these people have done this. On the first occasion, they came and stole things in the compound. This time they have damaged almost everything on the property,” one of the victims narrated to a local TV station.

“We weren’t expecting something like this to happen. Maybe there is something else going on behind the scenes but we are just workers on the property so we can’t tell for sure, but the encounter was terrifying. We’ve been greatly affected but we were not in the wrong,” stated another.

They called on the police to take action and bring the assailants to justice.

“The county commissioner should take action…we’re asking the police to step in and help us,” said another victim.

One of the guards has been admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital with serious injuries while the others are receiving treatment at the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
