Blessed Sister Irene Stefani Nyaatha’s Relics Interred

The relics, which had been interred at Mathari Central Catholic Church since 1995, were moved from Mathari  Central after Saturday's beatification ceremony.

The beatification came following a process that began in 1985 when investigations into Sister Irene Stefani Nyaatha's life began.

Nyaatha was described as merciful, loving and humble as many people remembered her work.

'She dedicated her life to serving God and helping other people,' noted Cardinal John Njue. 'We should all try and emulate her deeds.'

'She is the perfect example of how one person can change communities,' noted President Kenyatta during Saturday's beatification ceremony.

Nyaatha died in 1930 after contracting an illness from one of the patients she was treating.

She was 39 years old when she died.
