Jamaican reggae artiste Shauna McKenzie, known popularly as Etana, on Wednesday paid a visit to Acting Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu.

Kananu welcomed the dancehall star to the city saying Nairobi is a magnet for international celebrities because of the people as well as the culture.

"Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Nairobi which is also known as the 'Green City in the sun' continues to be a magnet for international celebrities because of its friendly people, rich culture, national parks as well as being a major commercial, transport and communications hub of Africa," she stated.

The acting governor also talked about the economic advantage of 'The Pamoja Live Concert', adding that she supports youth empowerment and self sustenance.

"The Pamoja Live Concert will promote the youth businesses: flea markets and local vendors will be able to market and sell their products during the duration of the event. I fully support youth empowerment and self sustenance," she noted.

The artiste was happy to hear that many Nairobians will get to watch her concert and at the same time be economically empowered.

Etana’s performance is set to be the first major performance since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country in March last year and a curfew as well as partial lockdowns were instituted.

Etana is set to perform at the Waterfront, off Ngong Road, on October 30, 2021.

Also present during the visit with Kananu were County Executive Committee members: Winnie Gathagu, Newton Munene, Hiten Majevdia and Charles Kerich as well as a few Members of the County Assembly.
