Man dies after fire razes down his house in Kirinyaga county
Residents in Kariko village Kirinyaga Central woke up on Sunday morning in complete shock after an early morning fire razed down a house, killing one of the residents.
John Muthii, 40, is said to have returned home at 9 p.m. on Saturday night, retiring to bed only for his family to be awoken by screams from his home.
The flames quickly engulfed Muthii's house with neighbors who made efforts to put out the fire getting overwhelmed by the flames.
Mr.Muthii is said to have died after sustaining serious burns.
Family members and area residents suspected that the 4 am fire might have been caused by an electricity mishap, claiming everything was quiet before the incident.
They also feared that the deceased might have come home drunk.
Police have since launched investigations into the cause of the fire.
The body of the decedent was moved to Kerugoya GeneralHospitall mortuary.
