Ex-Mathira MP Ephraim Maina dismisses ‘State House-backed’ Nyeri lineup
Former Mathira Member of Parliament, Ephraim Maina, says he will run for the Nyeri Senatorial seat in the August 8 polls despite his exclusion from Rigathi Gachagua’s Nyeri political lineup.
Speaking in Mathira Constituency after meeting supporters, Maina called on Nyeri people to dismiss the proposed political line up of leaders supported by Rigathi Gachagua.
He also dismissed allegations that the lineup is supported by State House.
He held that the lineup was a decision of a single person who is doing it for his selfish gains without putting the interest of Nyeri people first.
Two weeks ago, Rigathi said that the political machinery of more than 10,000 people he inherited from his brother, the late Nderitu Gachagua, will rally behind the candidature of Dan Wamahiu for the seat of Senator and Rahab Mukami of Maendeleo Mashinani for the seat of Women Representative.
Maina is expected to face stiff competition in the Jubilee party nominations from Dan Wamahiu and businessman Wambugu Nyamu.
