Five girls charged with attempting to burn school dormitory in Kisii

  • They all pleaded not guilty and were each released on a bond of Ksh.50,000 or a cash bail of Ksh.20,000.

Five students from Itierio Girls High School in Kisii County have been arraigned at the Kisii Law Courts for attempting to torch a dormitory at the school.

The five were charged with attempted arson before Senior Resident Magistrate Paul Mutai.

The charge sheet read that on "November 9, 2021, at about 4 am the girls jointly attempted to unlawfully set fire to a building namely Elgon Dormitory the property of Itierio girls high school."

They were also charged with being in possession of a sanitizer and a gas lighter within the school compound.

They all pleaded not guilty and were each released on a bond of Ksh.50,000 or a cash bail of Ksh.20,000.

The case is set for hearing on November 29, 2021.
