Digital Tech week activities begin in Nairobi
The COVID-19 lockdown sparked a digital revolution in various sectors of the economy in Kenya, with Online businesses spiking during the pandemic.
Many Kenyans resorted to shopping online and having their goods delivered at their doorstep as they obeyed Govt directives to work form home and observed social distancing to avoid contracting the coronavirus.
Speaking during the Social Media Week 2021 Joseph Wanjohi, Safaricom Head of Large enterprise and public sales ,Safaricom said that there had been a huge spike in the adoption of digital technologies in major sectors of the economy that led to a change in the lifestyle of many during the pandemic.
"Remote working registered one of the biggest spikes as the government asked citizens to work from home in a bid to reduce the spread of Covid-19.," Joseph Wanjohi -Head,Large enterprise and public sales ,Safaricom says.
Royal media services marketing director Carol Wanyama stated that digital marketing also increased during the period as many companies opted for targeted adverts during the period .
"Over the past year we have seen increased targeted marketing within the digital space which has helped them reach their audience," Ms Wanyama said.
