DP Ruto says he will not attend Devolution Conference in Makueni

  • This is according to his official spokesperson David Mugonyi who has revealed that the DP’s speech will be read by a representative on Friday.

Deputy President William Ruto will not attend the 7th Devolution Conference in Wote, Makueni County.

This is according to his communications secretary David Mugonyi who said the DP’s speech will be read by a representative on Friday, the final day of the event that started on Wednesday.

The DP is expected to tour areas of Nyandarua County instead, as he continues to push his agenda ahead of next year's polls.

With climate change a major topic of debate in the world right now, the conference’s theme this year is ‘Multi-level Governance for Climate Action: Sub National Mobilisation in Unlocking the Full Potential of Climate Action during after pandemics.’

President Uhuru Kenyatta similarly did not physically attend the launch of the conference on Wednesday as he was in South Africa for a State visit.

The Head of State, however, officially opened the conference via a video link from South Africa.
