IEBC deputy ICT director missing
A deputy ICT director at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has gone missing, the electoral agency’s chairman Wafula Chebukati revealed on Sunday.
The IEBC Christopher Chege Musando who is in charge of ICT systems and data centre support was last seen at Anniversary Towers, the electoral agency’s headquarters on Friday at about 10pm.
“The last communication from him is an SMS text sent to one of his colleagues at around 3:00 am on Saturday morning. The content of the SMS suggests that he was conscious and fully aware of his itinerary for that day,” read the statement sent to newsrooms on Sunday.
The electoral agency said it has reported the matter to the police and is working with his family members to establish his whereabouts.
Musando’s wife, Elva Else Auma Buyu filed a missing person report at the Embakasi Police Station informing police that his three phones went unanswered.
His vehicle, a grey Landrover Discovery, has also been reported missing.
Addressing journalists on Sunday, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said the security agencies have launched an investigation to trace Musando.
