Covid 19: Kenya records 12 new infections, 3 deaths
The Ministry of Health, on Monday announced that 12 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 1,730 tested in the last 24 hours marking a positivity rate of 0.7 percent.
This brings the total confirmed cases to 254,309 while cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,771,792.
The Ministry said that from the cases, 12 are Kenyans,12 males and 6 females. The youngest is a 10-year-old while the oldest is 76 years.
The 12 cases are distributed across the country as follows; Kakamega 4, Nairobi 2, Baringo 1, Meru 1, Murang’a 1, Nakuru 1, Nandi 1 and Turkana 1.
The Ministry of Health also announced that 37 patients had recovered from the disease with 25 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and 12 from health facilities countrywide.
This brings the total recoveries to 247,682 of whom 200,079 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 47,603 are from various health facilities countrywide.
A total of 381 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, and 1,027 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
“24 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 10 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.” Moh said.
Three more patients have succumbed pushing the death toll to 5,319.
