Court orders IG Boinnet to produce Miguna Miguna

High Court Judge Luka Kimaru has ordered Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Director of Criminal Investigations to produce controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna in court on Monday, February 5 at 2pm.

Justice Kimaru also summoned the IG and DCI to appear in court to show cause why they should not be cited for contempt for failing to comply with orders issued on Friday for the release of Miguna.

This comes even as the lawyer for the Director of Public Prosecutions, Peter Malinyani told the court that they are not aware of Miguna’s whereabouts.

Miguna, the self-proclaimed general of the outlawed National Resistance Movement (NRM), has been in police custody since Friday, February 2 when police raided his home in Runda and took him away.

A cat and mouse game between police and NASA leaders continued on Sunday, with Miguna’s lawyers being denied access to him at Kiambu’s Lari Police Station where he was reportedly being held.

His lawyers claimed that he had fallen ill while in custody, but could not be allowed to deliver medicine to him.
