Migori County Governor Okoth Obado welcomes SRC audit

Migori County Governor Okoth Obado has welcomed the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) lead job evaluation saying it has come at an appropriate time.

Governor Okoth Obado said the exercise will ensure that those holding county positions are doing jobs that are in line with their expertise.

“Certain things are coming, and they are coming at a good time. We must do the evaluation so that we can justify our jobs and positions,” Said Obado.

He said the county will adhere to recommendations made by the SRC saying that the evaluation will improve the county output.

Recently Migori County has been on the spot over ghost workers who have been robbing the county more Ksh116, 000 per month according to the Auditor General’s report for the 2013/2014 financial year.

The report also indicated that some county employees are not aware of their responsibilities and others not deployed to their work station.

Meanwhile Okoth Obado has called on his officers to help eliminate ghost projects that have been rampant in the county.

“I know of cases where we have taken money, but no projects have been done in those places. We must eliminate these ghost projects now,” said Obado.

The Governor instructed his officers to ensure that they take full charge of every project done within their departments to eliminate ghost projects in the county.
