Lupita Nyong’o to star in Chimamanda’s Americanah series
Americanah has been ordered a straight-to-series by WarnerMedia streaming service.
The series will be based on the best-selling novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
The 10-episode series tells the story of a woman who is born in Nigeria.
She left for America and the series takes us through her experiences with love, heartache, adversity and self-discovery.
Lupita Nyong’o will star in the series and will also be the executive producer.
“Dream team, dream project!” she said on Twitter.
Her co-star Danai Gurira will serve as show runner of the series which is a product of Plan B Entertainment, Potboiler Television and D2 Productions.
“Americanah has sparked a cultural phenomenon and is revered by fans around the world. It has affected me deeply as one of the most moving, socially relevant and romantic stories of our time.
“With exceptional talent like Lupita and Danai in front and behind the camera, this series will give viewers a uniquely heartfelt and unforgettable experience,” said Max Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO.
