Chamgei FM extravaganza postponed by a week
The Chamgei FM Champions Extravaganza initially earmarked for Saturday has been postponed by a week to allow the Royal Media Services fraternity to give fallen broadcasting icon Waweru Mburu a send-off befitting his iconic status on Friday.
The event organised to honour the roaring achievement of the country’s athletes at the region most call home will now be held on October 16 with the venue, Eldoret National Polytechnic and entertainment line-up remaining unchanged.
“The planned Chamgei FM Champions extravaganza has been postponed for one week later than the pre-set date to October 16 in order to allow room for a proper send-off for our deceased colleague, Waweru Mburu, and whose contributions remain valuable to the Royal Media Services fraternity.
“Our company remains committed in ensuring fans get the chance to meet, interact and celebrate their champions together with our Chamgei FM staff. In this regard, receive our sincere apologies for any inconveniences caused,” RMS Programmes Director Fred Afune said in a brief statement.
Waweru who rose to head RMS radio flagship and market leader, Radio Citizen, will be interred in Muranga on Friday.
The event, which will also give Chamgei FM audience a chance to interact with their favourite presenters and will leading local music artists light up the event.
Lilian Rotich, Man Like Ronoh, Maggie Seurey, Mike SweetStar and many other entertainers are expected to take the stage and belt their popular club bangers.
A stellar cast of Olympics, world, commonwealth, African, Diamond League and World Marathon Majors champions past and present are expected to gather at the extravaganza for the chance to be celebrate in a manner like no other.
