Shabana aiming for maximum points against MCF
head coach Robert Ojienda is confident his side will overcome a technical Mully
Children’s Family (MCF) in their fourth match of the season, as a show of
intent to close in on league leagues APS Bomet.
Shabana were awarded a 2-0 walkover on Sunday after their opponents Coastal Heroes staged a no show at the Awendo Green Stadium, but Ojienda is keen for his side to collect all points on offer when they face MCF who are ranked last on the log, on Wednesday.
After a failed title bid last season, the Glamor boys embarked on a retooling mission in the off-season, and the seasoned tactician is confident his team will come good as the new season takes shape.
“MCF is a very good side and we will not underrate them based on their position on the log.
“Even if I have not gotten a chance to watch them this season, I understand that they managed to keep the core of their squad from last season as an indication of their ambition.”
Ojienda will not look too far for a reminder of the competitive and unpredictable nature of the second-tier league this season, after debutants, Mara United humiliated sophomores Silibwet 5-2 at the Awendo Green Stadium on Sunday.
“Everyone was shocked when we drew 0-0 against Mara in our opening game. But going by the way they humiliated Silibwet, it is safer not to underrate any side based on where they are on the log.
“We want to give a good account of ourselves whenever we step on the pitch and the boys understand that we must show up with the right mindset if we are to realize our season ambition.”
The Wednesday clash will be played at the Thika Municipal Stadium with kick-off slated for 3.00 pm.
