Canadian singer, The Weeknd is now the most-listened-to artist according to Spotify.

According to an announcement made by the World Music Awards on Saturday, The Weeknd clinched the top position with 85.6 Million monthly listeners beating a record that was previously held by fellow Canadian Justin Beiber, with just under 84 Million listeners.

“#theweeknd is now the most listened to Artist on #Spotify with 85.6 MILLION monthly listeners, and becomes the 1st Act to reach the Top Spot 9 different times!,” said World Music Awards.

The 31-year-old singer set the Spotify record a few weeks after the release of his new album, ‘Dawn FM.’

Following the release, the album additionally became the number one listened-to album according to Spotify charts around the globe and in the United States.

“#DawnFM reigns at the top of the charts (Jan. 7-13, 2022),” wrote Spotify charts on Instagram, January 13.

The album features legendary creatives in the American industry such as Tyler the creator, Lil wayne, Jim Carrey and super producer Quincy Jones.
