Three cops charged with aiding Masten Wanjala's escape from police cell
Three police officers have been charged for allegedly aiding confessed serial killer Masten Wanjala to escape from Jogoo Police Station in Nairobi.
Appearing before Magistrate Bernard Ochoi, the accused; Phillip Mbithi, Kamakia Mutuma Boniface and Precious Mwende Mwinzi Ochoi were charged with neglecting a duty they are bound to serve as police officers in reference to the National Police Service Act.
They were charged that on the night of 12th and 13th October 2021, they failed to prevent a murder suspect from escaping the prison.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted a cash bail of Ksh.150,000 each.
The case will be mentioned on November 4, 2021
Masten Wanjala, 20, was killed by a mob in Bungoma town, two days after escaping from Jogoo Road Police Station.
