National Assembly approves nomination of Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri as PSC Chair
The National Assembly has approved Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri’s qualifications after President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated him for the position of Public Service Commission Chairperson.
The nomination was made by the Head of State on November 15, 2021 but it was made known to Parliament on November 25, 2021.
“The Speaker of the National Assembly conveyed the message from President Kenyatta to the House and referred the nominee’s name and curriculum vitae to the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security for vetting and reporting to the House in accordance with the provisions of standing order 45,” read official Parliament documents.
Muchiri currently serves as Kenya’s ambassador to Cuba.
A dozen candidates had been nominated for the position following the death of Stephen Kirogo in August.
The candidates included PSC Vice Chairperson Charity Kisotu, Mahboub Mohammed Maalim, Charles Onani Maranga and Maurice Mutinda Wambua, among others.
The candidates were interviewed on November 10, 2021.
