IEBC registers 229,843 new voters against weekly target of 1,493,569
In a statement issued on Monday, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati said for the last 7 days, the Commission registered 229,843 new voters against the weekly target of 1,493,569.
"Further, the Commission received 34,928 requests for transfer and 345 applications for change of particulars," reads the statement.
Nairobi county recorded the highest number of new voters registered at 19,910 followed by Kiambu 11,642, Kakamega 9,183, Nakuru 8,994 and Kilifi 8,654.

The commission noted that registration of voters for citizens residing outside the country has not kicked off, as earlier scheduled in United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Canada due to the prevailing COVID-19 containment measures instituted in the two countries.
"The Commission will advise on when the registration exercise shall be conducted in UAE and Canada once the COVID 19 containment measures are eased," said the commission.
IEBC targeted to register 6 million new voters out of which 1,159,294 were registered in the first phase of ECVR.
The current phase (ECVR II) targets to register as voters 4,480,706 eligible Kenyans.
