Why City Stars have sure bet on KPL promotion

National Super League leaders Nairobi City Stars are sure of earning promotion back to the KPL at the end of the season.

City top the second-tier league  with 43 points after 18 matches.

And according to their Football Coordinator Samson Otieno, the key to the playing unit’s good performance is prompt payment of salaries and attractive bonuses.

“I can assure you we are ready for Kenya Premier League. That is the reason why we are motivating our squad by paying them on time.

He went on: “We give them high allowances every time they win. There are no draw allowances but only for wins; that’s the reason we are opening the gap each and every week,’’ Otieno said of the seven-point gap they’ve opened between them and second placed Bidco United who are on 36 points.

According to Otieno, plans are in the pipeline to sign six new players to beef up the striking department and central defence as they bid to win the title on a 93 points mark.

With 20 matches to go and 60 points to fight out for, City can achieve this dream so long as their good form does not desert them.

To attain this goal, Otieno argued that they had to rope in a foreign coach in Bosnian Sanjin Allegic to help instil professionalism.

“We want the best and that’s why we brought a foreign coach; we never wanted a Kenyan coach who will be favouring his friends or something like that,” added Otieno.

City’s next assignment is on January against Coast Stima.
