Wetangula slams Western leaders over Nzoia FC bus

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula has slammed a section of politicians for using the bus gifted to Nzoia Sugar FC by president Uhuru Kenyatta to gain political mileage in the Western region.

The Bungoma County senator’s sentiments come barely a month after a group of western politicians led a delegation to State House where they received a new 52-seater bus and a 2-million-shilling cash token for the Bungoma-based club.

In an interview with Mulembe FM, Wetangula castigated the COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli and devolution cabinet secretary Eugine Wamalwa, who led the entourage, for what he called ‘cheap politics’.

“You saw the shame we were served where our five governors and minister (Eugine Wamalwa) and Atwoli ( Francis) go to the president in the name of bringing development yet what they come with is only a 52-seater bus for Nzoia Sugar FC. Is that they call development. Very cheap!” Wetangula said.

Other leaders who were in the event were Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati, Busia governor Sospeter Ojamong, Vihiga governor Wilber Otichillo and Trans Nzoia governor Patrick Khaemba among others.

Nzoia Sugar became the third team to acquire a new bus in the last five months after AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz FC.
