Vihiga United eye five signings to bolster squad

Vihiga United head coach Sammy Okoth has said he plans to sign five players with top-flight experience in order to add more depth and quality to the newly promoted side.

Vihiga have managed only two wins from their opening ten FKF Premier League matches to place just four points above the relegation zone yet those opponents below them have played fewer games.

“I remember when our club earned promotion to the Premier League from NSL, we stayed out of the game for many months after Covid-19 struck in March last year so we didn’t make major changes in the team.

“My focus is to strengthen my team by adding five new players who have vast experience in the country’s top league. I am looking forward to bring on board a goalkeeper, two midfielders and three strikers,” Okoth said.

The team which is funded by the Vihiga County Government will play KCB this Saturday at the Utalii Grounds in Nairobi this Saturday where a win against the second placed side will see them climb to eight position with 12 points.
