Tikolo: All set for Saturdays FKF elections

It is all systems go for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Electoral Board ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated national elections.

The Board on Thursday afternoon briefed voters on the voting process and what will be expected of them to avoid any malpractices.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Chairperson Kentice Tikolo has assured all contestants of a credible process, adding that preparations are complete.

“We are going on well with the preparations and I’m happy to report that we are ready. Anyone who has seen what we are doing has the confidence that we will oversee a free and fair exercise,” averred Tikolo.

She has called on the stakeholders involved, especially candidates and voters to observe utmost sobriety ahead of the polls, underling its importance.

“We are doing our job as it is expected of us and I don’t want to hear of any form of malpractice. Issues like voter intimidation, people taking photos of ballot papers all amount to malpractices and we want to avoid them as much as possible. That is why no one will be allowed into the voting booth with their phones,” she warned.

Elsewhere, FKF presidential hopeful Boniface Osano says he is confident of dethroning incumbent president Nick Mwendwa in the national elections set for Saturday.

Besides Mwendwa, Osano is challenging for the FKF top job against former FKF Deputy CEO Herbert Mwachiro, former Gor Mahia CEO Omondi Aduda and former AFC Leopards chairman Dan Mule.

He believes the delegates he has met across the country have bought his football vision for the nation, ahead of the polls.

“We have done our groundwork well and we are confident of carrying the day. The delegates we met have understood and bought into our ideology on how we can transform football in our country,” he asserted.

He has rallied the 87 delegates who will be voting on Saturday to consider fresh leadership for the sport.

“I urge all delegates to put the interest of the game ahead of any other considerations. We know what ails our football and it is time we did things the right way,” he added.

He will be gunning to unseat Mwendwa who took over the reins of leadership from Sam Nyamweya in 2016.
