Three Counties fail to beat FKF nomination deadline

Samburu, Tana River and Lamu Counties are the only regions that failed to beat today’s deadline of submitting nominations for the County Representatives.

Following the failure by the three regions, they will forfeit their right to vote in the national polls as they technically ‘do not qualify’ to take part in the national exercise.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Media Officer Ken Okaka confirmed the rest of the process is running smoothly.

“Apart from the three Counties, the rest have submitted nomination papers and we are pleased with the process.

The three didn’t submit theirs because most clubs from the mentioned regions do not qualify to participate in the elections,” Said Okaka.

National Executive Committee as well as presidential aspirants are expected to submit their nomination papers this Friday and Saturday as per the Electoral Calendar.

“We are expecting the process to flow smoothly on Friday and Saturday as we continue to work towards the date set for the elections,” added Okaka.

The final list of National and County candidates will be published on March 3. County elections have been scheduled for March 14 while the national elections will be held on March 27.

The FKF Electoral Board has published the final list of clubs eligible to vote at the county and national level in the upcoming repeat FKF elections.

As stipulated in the 2019/2020 FKF Electoral Code, the list consists of 1,014 clubs that have actively participated in the FKF leagues in at least three of the last four consecutive seasons i.e. 2016, 2017, 2018, 2018/2019 and are currently active.
