Thiongo vows to earn Leopards starting role

AFC Leopards winger Peter Thiong’o has vowed to work harder to muscle his way back to a starting role and meet expectations of him by the club’s fanbase.

Thiong’o has struggled to make an impression at Leopards since joining from Kakamega Homeboyz last year but is hopeful things will turn to his advantage.

“There are a lot of things that I expect to achieve and I’m pushing very hard to ensure my potential is shown on the pitch,” Thiong’o said.

His role has been reduced to that of a substitute and he was the hero off the bench when he scored the winning goal for Leopards in their 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars.

Thiong’o added he is happy to be at a club with a culture of nurturing youth talents and is certain he will go on to achieve his ambition to become a top player.

“I am enjoying my time here and appreciate opportunities given to me.”

He also heaped praise on head coach Patrick Aussems for his and ability.

“He is a good coach who advises players accordingly and he likes the team. He has a fantastic strategy of play and he is ready to give every player a chance to play provided they put in their all,” Thiong’o said.

AFC Leopards are training at GEM Cambridge University in preparations to clash with out of form Vihiga United in Mumias Sports Complex after an international break.
