Team News: Gors Kerr names weakened squad for Mashemeji Derby

Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr has rung several changes in the squad that played Mathare United last weekend, for the Hull City Challenge against eternal rivals AFC Leopards in Nakuru.

Conspicuously missing in the squad, not even on the bench, is mercurial creative attacking midfielder Francis Kahata, for the second Mashemeji Derby of the 2018 season, set to kick-off at 2:00PM at the Afraha Stadium.

Kerr is employing a 4-3-3 formation, with first choice goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch starting, while Philemon Otieno, Godfrey Walusimbi, Joachim Oluoch and former Kakamega Homeboyz Charles Momanyi cover him on the four-man defense.

Former Tusker FC midfielder Cercidy Okeyo, Bernard Ondiek and Lawrence Juma complete the midfield pack, as Kevin Omondi, Boniface Omondi, Ephrem Guikan are paraded in the attack.

Substitutes

Shaban Odhoji, Innocent Wafula, Joash Onyango, Harun Shakava, Samuel Onyango, Humphrey Mieno, George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo, Jacques Tuyisenge and Meddie Kagere start from the bench.

Up to six substitutions are allowed for each side in the clash

Ingwe’s Rodolfo Zapata, in his maiden local derby, has opted for Ezekiel Owade in goal, as senior custodians Jairus Adira and Gabriel Andika continue to warm the bench.

Owade, making his debut derby clash, will be covered by Mike Kibwage, Isaac Oduro, Robinson Kamura and captain Dunan Otieno in defense.

Victor Majid is trusted with the holding midfielder role, alongside Brian Marita, Marvin Omondi Whyvone Isuza in the middle.

Ezekiel Odera will lead the goal-hunt mission, shadowed by Vincent Oburu.

The winner of the match will play Hull City, the English Championship side, on May 13 in Nairobi.
