Tanzanian goalie Mapigano quits Gor Mahia

Tanzanian international shot stopper David Mapigano has quit Gor Mahia on mutual consent.

Club chairman Ambrose Rachier says Mapigano wrote a letter to the club on August 3 requesting to leave and the club has granted him his wish.

According to Rachier, Mapigano indicated that he was headed to a club in the Tanzanian Premier League .“He wrote to me three days ago requesting to leave and we could not detain him here now that the league resumption in the country is still uncertain.

Keeping him would mean he will still be entitled to payment yet money is our major problem at the moment,” said Rachier

Mapigano is reportedly joining Tazania’s Azam with the Tanzanian soccer powerhouse publishing his pictures undergoing a medical examination.

He joined Gor Mahia in July from the now relegated Singida SC who finished the ended campaign bottom of Tanzania’s top tier league.

Rachier however says they have cleared with the player.

At the same the chairman added that they are yet to finalize their deal with former City Stars keeper Levis Opiyo noting that the deal will be sealed next week when transfer windows open.

“We are yet to finalize with any player including keeper Levis Opiyo. We know the law and will only clear any player once the window period is open next week. At such a time, we shall release the names of players ejected and those joining the club.’’

Asked about the departure of striker Boniface Omondi, Rachier said the player has not cleared with the club and reports linking him Wazito are just but ‘rumours’.
