Sonko to assist cater for funeral expenses of Gor fans killed in road accident

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has offered to assist cater for the funeral expenses of three Gor Mahia fans that were killed in a road accident on Sunday.

The trio were part of the K’Ogalo contingent that were travelling to Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday to cheer their team take on Thika United, a match K’Ogalo won 5-2.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, Gor’s secretary general Ben Omondi said that besides assisting in catering for the funeral expresses of the deceased, the Governor has offered hearses to transfer the bodies of the deceased from Siloam Hospital in Athi River to Chiromo Mortuary.

‘”Sonko is also providing three hearse ambulances to transfer the bodies of the deceased fans from Siloam Hospital to Chiromo Mortuary, and to help cater for their funeral expenses ,  but this will be after consultation with their families,” said Omondi.

At the same time, the deceased – Kelvin Otieno, alias ‘Reflector’, Kennedy Omondi alias ‘Omosh wuod Alego’ and George Otieno – were all members of Gor Mahia Dandora branch. Others sustained injuries during the accident.

Omondi also warned the club’s fans to learn from the misfortune and desist from traffic offences and malpractices and acts of hooliganism.

The deceased, amongst others, were reported to have been hanging atop the bus when the accident occurred.

“Gor is an internationally recognised brand and such acts can only soil our reputation internationally,’’ warned Omondi.
