Sofapaka eyeing three new signings to boost squad

Sofapaka FC are aiming to strengthen their squad by signing three players before the close of the transfer window as they target to win the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) premier league title.

New coach Ken Odhiambo guided his team to a 1-1 draw against Vihiga United last Saturday at the Mumias Sports Complex and says he hopes to solidify his midfield as well as striking departments.

“We were to win that match but my players failed to utilize the chances. I was disappointed with my midfield departments as well as striking and that why I must sign three players, two midfielders and a striker soon. I have already identified the players but cant disclose now,’’ Said Odhiambo adding that. Said the Ex Bandari coach.

“I am still new as Sofapaka, I thank the management for believing in me and giving me warm reception. I want to transform the team to a better cub ever like what I did with Bandari”.

In the regards to clubs underrating their new home ground (Dawson Mwanyumba Stadium) located in Wundanyi constituency in Taita Taveta county, Odhiamo has told such teams to shut up because most of them doesn’t have their own home grounds.

Odhiambo’s sentiments were triggered by complaints from City Stars whom they hosted a week ago saying the field is of low quality.

“I heard some of City tars complaining about the standard of the field. I want to tell them including all those are questioning the standard of field to stop. Wundanyi is our home for now and they should enjoy visiting the stadium for their away matches instead of talking bad about it.”

In their draw against Vihiga, Kepha Aswani and Patrick Okulo were on the score sheet as the results took them to the ninth position with 11 points while Vihiga are in the 13th with 9 points.

Tusker are on the summit of the league with 23 points one ahead of second placed KCB, Wazito are third with 20 points while AFC Leopards and Kariobangi Sharks lies in the fourth and fifth positions with 10 points.

Sofapaka next league task will be against Zoo Kericho this Saturday at Wundanyi Stadium.
