Sofapaka complete the signing of defender Mitima from Rwanda’s APR

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants Sofapaka have completed the signing of  defender  Isaac Mitima on a thee-year deal from Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Football Club (APR)

Batoto Ba Mungu have been active in the market, bringing in players who they feel can help them challenge for the league title next season.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Sofapaka tactician John Baraza said the defender is expected to land in the country before Monday.

“Mitima is now our player after signing a three-year contract with us, he is still processing a few documents in his country due to Covid 19 restrictions.

We are expecting him in the country to join the team before Monday,” Baraza said.

“He is an experienced defender who will help in tightening our back four; his signing is good news to us and the fans at large because he will strengthen the team.

Baraza alluded to confidence his side is gaining ahead of the new season, signaling his side’s desire for a title chase.

“We want to have a competitive squad made of quality players for the new season.

“The league title is top of our priority and it is the reason why we are going for players who can help us achieve that,” Baraza continued.

The Kenyan outfit paid Ksh1 million to get the services of the defender.

On Monday, Batoto ba Mungu confirmed the arrival of experienced striker Paul Muigai Kiongera.

“We have signed Kiongera, the deal is complete and he will be our player for the next two years with an option of extending it,” Baraza said.

“Kiongera is an experienced player who is giving the team a different dimension in attack. We have young players who have talent but lack experience and Kiongera compliments them with that,” Baraza concluded.

Kiongera had signed  a short term contract with Wazito in January but was among the 13 players dropped in the current transfer window.
