Simbas overpower Victoria Cup champs Zimbabwe

Kenya Simbas whitewashed Victoria Cup champions Zimbabwe 36-14 in a dead rubber match played at the NAC Grounds, Nakuru on Saturday.

Paul Odera charges scored five tries converting four plus a drop kick penalty against Zimbabwe’s two converted tries.

Today’s most valuable player Vincent Onyala sliced through the sables defense after a one two play with Joshua Chisanga landing a center post try with Antony Odhiambo converting it to give Kenya an early 7-0 lead.

Zimbabwean Chibuwe Ngoni missed a drop kick penalty but Kenya’s Antony Odhiambo was at it again scoring a drop kick penalty to make it 10-00 for the home side.

The unstoppable Zimbabwean winger Chibuwe Ngoni landed a try inside the posts with Sharpley Dudlee converting it to bring the visitors back to the game.

Both teams were left with 14 players after Zimbabwean Tshamala Biselele and Kenya’s Toby Francombe were sin binned.

Coming back to the squad Joshua Chisanga stole the ball from the opponents attack Timothy Okwemba rounding off opponents defenders to land simbas second try Odhiambo converting it to make it 17- 07.

Coming off from the bench Mathew Mandiona landed Zimbabwean second try Sharpley converting it to make it 17-14 at half time.

In the second half Kenya started the better side with Tony Omondi stealing a loose ball landing his first ever try for simbas converting it to make it 24-14 for Simba.

Chipu’s winger Ian Njenga got a huge carry, after a ruck was cleared with the ball being spread wide to Onyala who broke Zimbabwean defense setting up for USIU Charles Kuka to make it 29-14.

Onyala opened Zimbabwe’s defense and raced half way down to the right passing to Onsongo who scored Kenya’s fifth try Omondi converting it to make it 36-14 at full time.
