Shujaa cruise to Cape Town Sevens Main Cup quarters

The national sevens team qualified for the main cup quarter finals in the ongoing HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series (Cape Town Sevens) after beating Australia 14-07 in their second Pool D match in South Africa.

Paul Feeney charges won their first match 24-19 against Samoa in their tournament opener match.

Shujaa scored two converted tries against Aussies converted try.

It was even at half-time 07-07 after Kenya’s winger Vincent Onyala run at the center post in the fourth minute to score Kenya’s first try to give his side the lead Daniel Taabu converting to make it 07-00.

Australia replied in the seventh minute Pincus landing the try, Holland converting it to make it 07-07 at half-time.

Paul Feeney made five changes in the second half bringing in skipper Andrew Amonde, deputy skipper Jeffrey Oluoch, Nelson Oyoo, Dan Sikuta and Alvin Otieno who immediately made impact Otieno scoring Shujaa’s second try of the day and his second of the tournament, Taabu converting it to make it 14-07 in the eleventh minute.

Shujaa’s defence was composed and held the Aussies to a 14-07 win at full time.

Kenya will play their last Pool D match against Ireland at 5:47 pm (EAT).
