Shakava, Musa, Otieno top Leopards’ transfer list

AFC Leopards is targeting Zambia based trio Harun Shakava, Musa Mohammed and Duncan Otieno, whose future at Nkana FC is reportedly in doubt.

Leopard’s chairman Dr. Dan Shikanda says the three are undergoing difficult times in Zambia at Nkana, and are welcome at the den with Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title chase being top in clubs’ next season agenda.

“Shakava is a brilliant player, just like Musa and Otieno. We understand there has been some misunderstanding with their club. If all goes well the coaches will decide and we will eventually act accordingly,” said Shikanda, who on Sunday chaired Leopards’ AGM which discussed the way to break the 22-year jinx without a KPL title.

George Bwana, the intermediary handling the Musa, has confirmed to Citizen Digital there is indeed a turbulence facing Nkana, whose impact on players is inevitable.

“The club (Nkana) has lost one of its sponsors and there is also a change in management with a new chairman in place. The COVID-19 pandemic impact on the club is also being felt in terms of revenues,” said Bwana, who also represents Zesco United’s duo Jesse Jackson Were and David Owino.

According to Bwana, both Shakava and Otieno have running contracts but Musa’s has already ran out.

Both Shakava and Mohammed have served as Gor Mahia captains before joining the Zambian side, while Otieno was also Leopards’ captain before he joined Kitwe based team.

To inject more quality in the current playing unit, Shikanda has revealed the club will sign five new players, including three foreigners.

“We have a couple of options on table, but we don’t want to focus on many additions. A maximum of three good players can give us the blend that we want to achieve our 72 plus one points tally next season. If we hit the mark, no doubt we can lift the title,” underscored Shikanda.

Shikanda has also thanked Leopards fans for their patience, sticking with the club for over decades without Premier League trophy.
