Salah tops Egypts provisional squad for Kenya clash

Egypt national football team head coach Hossam El-Badry has named his provincial squad for the upcoming 2021 AFCON qualifiers in later this month.

Topping the list of the call-ups is Liverpool’s star winger Mohamed Salah and Besiktas midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

Coach Hossam El-Badry started his tenure on a good note by defeating Botswana 1-0 in his first game in charge last month after getting appointed on September 2019.

The 59-year-old tactician promised a fair selection of players in the national team and he kept his promise as the squad includes a number of new faces such as Wadi Degla’s Marwan Hamdy, Al Ahly’s Mahmoud Wahid, Zamalek’s Ahmed Sayed Zizo, and Pyramids’ forward Islam Issa.

Also, Al Ahly duo Mohamed Hany and Ramy Rabia returned to the national team squad.

Ramy last appearance for Egypt was in November 2017 during their 1-1 draw against Ghana in a 2018 world cup qualifying game in the city of Cape Coast in the west african country.
It was their first World Cup since the 1990 finals in Italy.

Egypt are in Group G of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers together with Kenya, Comoros, and Togo.

The Pharaohs kick-off their campaign by hosting Kenya on November 14 in Alexandria before traveling to face Comoros four days later.
