Players, staff set for COVID-19 tests as Kenya womens league resumes

The Kenyan Women premier league (KWPL) players, staff and league officials are expected to undergo a Covid-19 test on Thursday, December 10 before the resumption of the league over the weekend.

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) fixtures secretary Doreen Nabwire confirmed test schedules have been sent to all clubs ahead of the process that is expected to be conducted at the clubs’ respective training grounds.

“The health officials will visit the teams where all protocols should be observed. Each player is expected to wear her mask.

“The exercise will be completed by tomorrow afternoon and results should be ready on Friday evening. The season was supposed to kick off on Saturday but we’ve since postponed it to Sunday due to the tests,” Nabwire said.

Nakuru West Queens will kick off the exercise at Nakuru Shabab with Thika Queens, Oserian Ladies and Eldoret Falcons following suit at 9 am at the Thika Stadium, Oserian grounds, and Matemo Residence Chepkoilel respectively.

At 10am,Vihiga Queens will have their players and officials tested at the Kidundu Stadium then Zetech Sparks, Makolanders and SEP Oyugi ladies will conduct the exercise as from 9 am at the Zetech University main campus, Shepherds Ground Buruburu and Ruga Centre respectively.

Temas which will be tested in the afternoon includes Kibera Soccer Ladies, Kayole Starlet, Kisumu All Starlets, and Mathare United Women at the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy, Kayole Calvary CDF office, Moi Stadium, and MYSA Ground Komarock consecutively..

Gaspo Women and Trans Nzoia Falcons close off the COVID 19 testing exercise at the State House grounds and the Kitale showground respectively.

On Sunday when the league kicks off, Makolanders will open the zone A games in a match against Kibera Girls Soccer Academy while the game pitting Eldoret Falcons and Trans Nzoia Falcons will be the opener match for Zone B games.
